Scott Thompson

 

I have resided in the Ward 2 Village Core area for the past 18 years. I am married with two adult children currently pursuing their post secondary education. My wife, Lillian, and I chose Richmond Hill to raise our family due to the wide collection of activities, events and facilities that residents get to enjoy all year round. Something we want future generations to be able to enjoy as well. 

Education / Experience

Graduate of the Purchasing Management Association of Canada, Certified Professional Purchaser (CPP) program.

Over 30 years experience in municipal financial and procurement practices, legislation and contractual law. A well-established and highly skilled performer in leading and collaborating on the development and implementation of new processes and initiatives. Effectively able to deal with all levels of personnel plus ensure that collaborative efforts and linkages are maintained between on-going relationships. Recognized with a Service Excellence Award for leadership in rolling out chip & PIN technology to the Province of Ontario’s 35,000 ‎corporate cardholders.

Volunteer Experience

Town of Richmond Hill     

Committee of Adjustment: Appointed by Council and authorized by the Ontario Planning Act to grant minor variances from the provisions of the Zoning By-law provided that the general intent and purpose of the Zoning By-law and the Town's Official Plan are maintained.

Canadian Ski Patrol System (positions held)

VP of Administration: Responsible for managing and coordinating registration, procurement and supply activities, including catalogue sales and jacket leases.

Vice President without Portfolio: Provided consultative advice to the President and Senior Management Team while working on special projects as assigned. 

Executive Secretary: Acted as a liaison for the President on correspondence; updated policies & procedures on decisions rendered; recorded minutes of monthly meetings
